This presentation will describe common pitfalls challenging OEM's in selecting outsourcing partners and how fact-based analysis can lead to better decision making. Examples from actual client work will include quality benchmarking, comparisons of major CM sites in Mexico and Asia, a business risk assessment dashboard and due-diligence survey methods.

Robert Freid consults to management of leading OEM's on key issues involving manufacturing outsourcing. His services include assessing whether or not to outsource, identifying and qualifying contract manufacturers and sub-tier suppliers worldwide, and facilitating negotiation of pricing and service agreements. Robert also provides guidance in matters of client liability for cancellation of purchase orders or forecast reduction. Past clients range in size from blue-ship start-ups to major corporations such as Nokia, W.L. Gore, Cisco systems, Philips Medical Systems, Lockheed and Bose Corporation. Robert has over 20 years of management experience with well-known technology companies. Prior to founding CMC in 1999, he was a Marketing & Programs Manager for Solectron Corporation, one of the world's largest contract electronics manufacturers.
